BJC HealthCare is seeking a Retail Pharmacy Tech 1 to support safe, accurate, and timely medication dispensing in our community-focused health system. In this role, you will process prescriptions, prepare and label medications, manage inventory, and assist with insurance adjudication while delivering compassionate, efficient service to patients and caregivers. Process new and refill prescriptions with accuracy and efficiency Prepare, package, and label medications under pharmacist supervision Verify patient information and maintain complete, confidential records Handle insurance claims, prior authorizations, and payment issues Operate POS systems, manage cash, and reconcile daily transactions Monitor, rotate, and restock inventory, resolving shortages or discrepancies Support medication safety protocols and regulatory compliance Provide courteous, informed service to patients, caregivers, and clinical staff Assist pharmacists with workflow to ensure timely prescription turnaround Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives Prescription processing Medication dispensing Insurance claim processing Point-of-sale (POS) operation Inventory management Medication labeling and packaging Computerized pharmacy systems (e.g., EPIC, ScriptPro) Customer service in healthcare setting Cash handling and reconciliation Knowledge of pharmacy law and regulations Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k State pharmacy technician registration or license (if required) National pharmacy technician certification (e.g., PTCB or ExCPT) preferred Basic medication safety and HIPAA training
